It isn't really a new thing. The latest excuse is because France refused to go into Iraq with the US. France had some very good reasons not to do that but a lot of US citizens (and leaders) chose to ignore that. France did not agree with the invasion and felt there was a better way to handle Iraq (now we all know the invasion took place under false pretenses). France also did not feel it could incur the economic hardship of paying for their part in a war. It also appears unlikely that the government could have withstood being involved in the invasion.

Far too many US citizens forget which nation we owe or own freedom to. Without French involvement in Revolutionary war it is quite possible we would have lost. After all it is the French fleet that bottled up the harbor at Jamestwon preventing the evacuation of the British or their reinforcement. We also often forget that it is the French troops that enabled us to completely block tha British on the landward side.

The concensus in America seems to be that the French are rude
especially to Americans visiting there. It seems that they view Americans as uncooth barbarians. Americans are very proud people; this comes as no surprise, I'm sure. Americans don't take kindly to that sort of treatment from a people that Americans view as a bunch of surrendering sissies. The French basically just need their a s s kicked, in most Americans' points of view.

I don't hate them. I pity them. Anyone who thinks snails and cold potato soup are elegant dining needs help.
