Let's say that I promised to represent, advance, and empower your expressed interests in equality, and not to advance my own agenda, being an honest and fair representative all around. That my full-time job would be looking for ways to make it easier for your voice to be heard and to have effect. That I made it so that you would never have to wait in line to vote or to do anything relating to the government (remember those long lines at the polls and at the DMV?). What would you think about that? Would you vote me into office as your representative?

The aim of this question is to discern how an honest citizen (with no political experience) can stand-up for his/her fellow citizens WITHOUT IMPOSING his/her own beliefs/values/agendas/platforms upon you, the people, in a "I know what is best for you. Choose me because I am less corrupt than all the others." approach to politics.

This is not an attempt to start a campaign on Yahoo Answers, just a feeler for the general public reaction to an average citizen going out of his/her way to stand-up for the rest in government with a "the citizen is always right" platform which echoes the successful business philosophy that "the customer is always right." You know, the age old question of who serves whom.

So, how do you react to an average citizen wanting to set the standards of honesty, fairness, service, and representation in government service as a congressperson?

BTW, the issue of government intrusion or privacy follows naturally from the principle of fairness in that no person is given favor over any other person (equality). The only way to keep the "wolves from eating the sheep" is to blindfold them all (privacy), so that no animal can call itself a "wolf" or any other a "sheep," thus it becomes impossible to legislate veal as the Chef's Special for the evening.

In general, though, the idea would be to empower the people to rule in sovereign equality.

No because you have stated no plan on how you would accomplish this. And because each person has their own opinion on what issues are important to them but may not be important to the next person. Our voices are heard when we vote. The 1 and only issue of waiting in line is trivial to me. You do not have my vote

Show me a plan to reduce government intrusion into the citizen's private lives, one that reduces the size of the government and reduces the cost of government through waste and inefficiancy. The tell me how you will implement that plan and give me a recourse for when you back out of your promises. I'll vote for you then.

I would want to see your past records of accomplishments, talk to other people who know you, but I would not believe in you until I saw actual achievements. If you lived up to a high percentage of accomplishments than I would vote for you.

There is no such thing as a Fair Politicians. They all tell lies, we usually vote for the one who seems to tell the truth the most.

I would not vote for you because you may say one thing and do another. What about the real important issues.
