First contact medicare. You can't change her health care unless it is approved by insurance. IMMEDIATELY contact hospital administration/patient rep. It could be just one nurse who needs to be removed etc...
Once Medicare gets you settled in a new hospital etc.. then you should contact attorney. You have the rights to proper healthcare. If they are in violation you need to protect your mother and other patients so definitely file suit.

Find out what's really going on before you decide to start looking for a lawyer. One of the most difficult factors in a situation like this is determining the difference between mistreatment and the feeling of being mistreated. Medication can distort things tremendously. A lot of times, a nurse can't get to a room immediately; of course that doesn't mean that it applies here. Let your brother do some investigating first and watch what happens at the hospital. If in fact he does find that your mother isn't being treated properly, he needs to start by contacting someone in patient relations IMMEDIATELY. I am concerned about the urine collection bag leaking. The bag shouldn't be on the bed; it should be off to the side of the bed. Could the actual catheter have come out of place? That is my point...ask questions and get answers first. Go from there if you aren't satisfied.

Contact her Dr. Call the hospital and tell the nurses station you will report this to the chief of staff. Or see if the Dr. will have her moved to a different hospital. Does she have friends or a pastor you could contact to check this situation out and get back with you,so you could have an outside oppinion

You need to contact the unit's manager/supervisor. During the day shift, stop directly by the nurse's station. A unit clerk/secretary can refer you to the manager without need for appointment. You have the right to file a grievence. You can also see the Social Worker who attends to the patient's discharge planning.

I would call her doctor and have him talk tot he staff to see what is going on but also call the administration and have her moved. Thats absolutly rediculous to treat a patient that way. Is it every Nurse she has or just on certain shifts? If it is just one nurse then request a new one.

Post a complaint. Also if there is a way find out if anybody else has posted a complaint. Find another hospital that will take her if she's going to be there for an extended period of time.

off coarse you have right to move her , they have no right to treat human being like animals hell even animals don't deserve that kind of treatment . you can report them to the authorities and have them fired they seem to forget that they choose the profession and not the other way round so they need to take responsibility of their actions

You have the right to move her. By the sound of things, I would get her out of there.
