I am not gay and DO NOT have a problem with gay marriage. the argument against it is that marriage is sacred, bullshit, with the amount of divorce in this country it is anything but. we also had show such as who wants to marry my dad, bridezilla and a few more i am sure. how can anything being demonized on T.V still be considered sacred!? if gay people want to be happy as the word lets on let them be. i don't think they can screw up the ideals of marriage any more than the "straight" people in this country already have. the reason people have a hard time with it is because it is a change and people are always afraid of change. what really pisses me off is when people say our country was founded on religion "one nation under god" sure it says that but our country was founded to get away from religious prosecution then you add the fact that our ignorant president wants to have a say when he souldnt gets me even more we have a "seperation" of church and state so why sould the churchs beliefs as shitty as they are be allowed to govern our country?

Gay's can and do get married now. As a Zen priest, I can and will conduct such marriage ceremonies. It's just not recognized by any but one state govt.
The problem isn't marriage, but marriage rights. Rights such as getting to visit a spouse if they are in the ICU, breaks on taxes, nicer inheritance laws, insurance spousal benefits, custody of children on a spouse's death, and the like.
Since there is no difference in how a gay family exists, other than the relative genders of the spouses, denial of marriage rights is prejudice and bigotry. Plain and simple.
When my wife and I got married, according to the laws of this state, it was not legal blacks and whites to marry (unenforceble because of a previous Supreme Court ruling). I see little difference in this. At that time, bigots were quoting the bible, saying it was a sin for blacks and whites to marry, now they are doing it for gays and lesbians. The first amendment should free us from having someone else enforce their religious views on us. It's a pity it doesn't.
This is being used just to hurt gay and lesbian couples. Since they will still be living together, still be having sex, still adopting or having children, whether Gay marriage is recognized or not, any and all arguments against gay marriage are so specious as to be bordering on utter absurdity.

You can live out your life the way whatever you wanted to, but marriage of the same sex just doesnt seem to fit on board. Marriage is your license to live with each other in the eye of the Supreme Being. Will you expect a thumbs up from God?

I would never accept a gay lifestyle for myself, but I do not think that my opinions should define a life for someone else. I think that gay marriage should be legal and that our country should not let our religion interfere with our government. Religious beliefs should not create laws in our nation. Gay marriage will not hurt anyone. Get over it people.

I have no problem with it, and I do not understand why so many people do... if two Americans love each other then they should get all the same rights, privileges, and freedoms as any other American regardless of sex. I was completely shocked that America today would pass such religious amendments in our country .. what happened to Separation of Church and State... I heard some politician say it wasn't discrimination because you can't discriminate against someone because of their life choices, you can't compare it to discriminating against someone because of skin color.. and I was shocked... so much for American history.. we didn't discriminate against the Native Americans because of their race or nationality.. we discriminated against them because of their lifestyle.. the way they lived, the were considered "savages" in our "civilized world"- I don't know I'm really shocked that we have the nerve to take away other Americans rights, privileges, and freedoms... I'm heterosexual..so it might seem strange that I'm this upset about it.. but it's not about gay marriage.. I don't really care to much about that.. I'm more upset about what we are doing.. I believe in my country.. I believe what we stand for.. and when we do something like this.. we are going backwards instead of forward.
When people make statements like this.. I really see how far back we are "What's next......... someone being able to marry a kangaroo? And being able to marry a stapler?" We are talking about humans, people, fellow Americans.. not animals or inanimate objects

I think civil unions are fine but that the Sacrament of Marriage is intended for heterosexual unions and full family life...
Love is love, though, and people are people and love is always more important than the law. Being homosexual shouldn't mean being denied the right to love effectively - which of course includes sexually.

I like it I mean if two people really love each other then it fine with me but God did say not a woman and a woman can't be together or a man and a man to be together. So all the people who thinks it bad then thats is there problem but people think there god but there not. Only god can judge people not everyone else. If u judge people in anyway U can go to hell.

To me it is just 2 people who love each other, why shouldn't they be able to get married and have kids. Thier 2 able bodied adults who aren't affraid to show what they want. As long as they can take care of thier selfs and thier kids let them go at it maybe the divorce rate would go down then

In other words, I have no problem. I personally think being gay is wrong. Thats how I was raised. But I have friends who are gay and I don't judge them. They are good ppl. :) It's not my life and who am I to judge them? They could be judging me on being goofy :P
