Nope, can't do that one for ya....but I CAN tell you that some scum, like pond scum, looks real pretty in the moonlight :)

It is a sad, sad state of affairs that you would think this. I do agree that there are scum but not everyone is one. Anyway, it is not actually the people that are scum but their actions that are scum-like. I prefer to think like some of the other answerers, that there is good in all people. Except maybe Saddam. Or T.O. Or the really old lady that lives next door to me.

No. Why not? Because scum looks like scum, smells like scum and acts like scum... so nothing that scum says will convince you that it's not scum... - most people are scum... except for me, I'm just furpect... :o)

it depends what kind of people yo know! personally someone told me once you have to choosefriends and acquantances carefully because life is too precious to waste it on takers. i feel now that my group of friends are pretty interesting whereas i myself am somewhat an acquired taste. love me or hate me I AM MARMITE. I love my friends and would give my last drop of water to my bestfriend just because she is amazing. thats all that matters. The people who you have in your life not the scum that scrounge around you. focus on the micro not the macro. its the only way to stay smiling. Help all you can and make sure you dont add to the scum epidemic, help random people without judging them like the lady next to me yesterday who lost her purse and was asking at the checkout. she had no money for the bus so i butted in and gave her a few quid. i hope she does that for someone else one day. spread the love and be thoughtful even if it rubs off on one person thats enough!! JOB DONE

Just when I think they are scum, I find out they aren't. Just when I think that they aren't, something happens to make me think they are. So, I find myself waffling on this issue.
I think that groups of people together might give impetus for such poor behavior, but individuals that do not fall into this category truly shine because they are not following the leader like ducks in a row.
The jury is still out on this issue.

Individual people are almost always nice. It is governments, groups, organisations who don't know how to behave.
People in a mass surroundings (traffic, shopping mall) tend to see others not as individuals and behave as if the others are numbers / things. This is a limitation of our brain, but doesn't make us basically scum.

I cant convince you. I work in customer service so i see it all, hear it all, and have dealt with all kinds of people...two thirds of them id say are complete scum!

Personally, I believe that people on the whole are good.
