You need to start now. That will give you time to really digest and understand the information and make it a part of you. You will be able to discuss it on the exam much more easily and clearly because you will be comfortable with it. You can study a little at a time rather than having to cram all of it at once. It will give you time to clarify any issues you are uncertain about, and discuss various topics with other people.

So, start today. Be organized. Pace yourself. Figure out how much you have to do, and then divide it into manageable amounts for every day. Everyday do a quick review of some of the things you studied before. When exam day arrives you will feel very confident and prepared. Good luck with it.

How many chapters does the exam cover?
How many total pages are in those chapters?
How many pages of notes do you have for what is going to be on the exam?
If you were to re-read those chapters of the book and pages of your notes, how many is that?
How many hours would it take you to re-read them?
How many days do you have between now and then to re-read those pages?
How many hours per day from now until then can you dedicate to re-reading just those pages (in addition to whatever else might be covered/taught until then)?
If you have 300 pages of notes and text book to re-read/study for what might be on the test and you have 30 days until the test, you have 10 pages of notes and text to re-read until then (300 pages/30 days). How long would it take to re-read/study 10 pages per day? An hour/day? The more days you let go by, the more pages and time per day you'd have to dedicate to studying for the test.
The short answer... now!
