If I did not have TV, I think I would have more money. I would spend all my awake time working a lot harder than I am now, and not spending it on the web or watching reality shows. How about yourself?

It's a great question.

I really believe that if we did not have tv, we would be doing exactly the same thing our great-great-great grandfathers were doing.

We would all as a family be standing around the piano singing Michael Jackson songs - or basically trying to copy anything that we hear on the radio.

We would be more healthy as well. It's not so fun sitting on the couch with no tv and remote-control.

We will probably have a great national football team to this day, if there was no tv as more people would get off their fat arses and run on a field with a ball.

Infact, thank you for asking this. I'm going to switch my tv off. I'm not even watching it! How sad is that?

Actually I was around before every household had a TV and there was no such thing as cable and internet etc. If these things were to disappear I would read a lot more and socialize with more people. It's cool to work to be successful but eventually you could burn out. I'd have to have more of a balance.

Years ago, I was working for the Red Cross in Germany, and the apartment I was staying in did not have any t.v. Actually, not too many people had t.v. in the area. It was fantastic! Why? It forced people, including myself, to play cards, socialize, play board games with others, go bowling, movies together with others. T.V. has invaded our society like a plague, and we, as a people, have forgotten how to interact with one another other than work, and occasionally, going out to dinner or a movie, which we will rent in a month and watch again on the t.v.!

Accepting as a "given" that would mean we'd also be without the internet, I'd say we'd all be quite a bit more active and listening to the radio a lot more.
We would read more.
