Excellent question! Never thought about it myself, but thinking of it now, you sure have a point.
I hate asking for Mc anything, always feels so stupid, so always drop it; if they can't understand just chicken nuggets then there's no hope...

When Mcdonalds brought the copy right to McChicken Sandwich and Chicken McNuggets it was much easier to have McNuggets instead of McChicken Nuggets and no one could have McNuggets as a name for their product to compete against McDonalds. It has been the names of the products since day one.

Chicken McNuggets has a certain "ring" to it that McChicken Nuggets doesn't. It sounds better to the ear.

to me it sounds better as they do it compared to the lack of symmetry you are seeking...Chicken McSandwich or McChicken Nuggets just doesn't work.

because mcdonalds doesnt want to name one food the same as others that's how they get money.
like a cheeseburger and a double cheeseburger because one has just one patties and the other has two layer patties so do you get it now

It's hard enough for people to get straight what it is they want to order!!! If we had two menu items that sounded alike it would take forever trying to get right what it is people want!!!
