The largest problem with Dan Brown's sensationalized fiction is that much of it is based on the Gnostic Gospels. These were written based on word of mouth accounts, about two hundred years after the death of Christ.
To put this in perspective, how accurate do you think an account of George Washington's life would be if it was written today, based merely upon people's recollections as they have been handed down over 200 years?
If you've ever played the "telephone" game (10 or so people sit in a row and whisper a phrase down the line one at a time), a good percentage of the time the original phrase cannot even make it through a few people within a minute or two. Now imagine this over two centuries with everyone adding their two cents as time goes on.

I cant remember specifics, but there were severl documenteries on th esubjuect. The theme of the book is based on an ealier work exposing the myth. Dan Brown was reecentlu sued for plagurism. The whole hoax is based on some falsified documnets from 1950's.

The innovations are ok yet sorry to declare --.do you choose to comprehend what i think of approximately those traces or a critique on them often?except you're particular it ties up my palms because of the fact something i will write would offend you even with the undeniable fact that it does not have been meant.that's continuously dicey once you call for perspectives on something that one writes because of the fact buddies will possibly not proceed to be so for being ingenuous.nonetheless and all, this is the concept that counts and not mere shape that's secondary.Have a considerate day.

funny how people believe the "BIBLE" yet not this work of fiction... they are both unsupported, though the bible has billions of followers that have not actually felt god, just paid a weekly tithe to gain access to the immortal club.
if you want better reading that borders on historical research read
http://www.amazon.com/Holy-Blood-Grail-Michael-Baigent/dp/0440136482
at least it offers an alternative to the bibles version of history that is plausible. regardless of its truths or falsities, it is worth the read.
after all, every one seems to believe the bibles version as truth, yet we forget a simple fact in civilization: that the victor writes history. there are always more than one side to a story, yet in the bible we see only the christian side (what a surprise, i know) and it slams anything that contradicts it.
one mans lie is a billion mens truth!
haha, fools gold in god we trust...
L96vette, your idea is so relevant to life in general. most of the new testament was written years after christs death, and people write the things that sell, just like modern marketing in magazine sales. find something the people want, and make them need it. marketing christ style... perfect control mechanism for the church.
