If you want free antivirus then AVG is very good. If you want a complete security package then go for something like CA internet security suite. I have found this to be the best spyware/antivirus/ant spam suite on the market. My only reservation is that they have just changed their firewall product, and in my experience this has caused some computers to run slow, or stop altogether. Steer clear of McAfee and Norton they are pants!

AVG by Zonealarm. I have used the free version for about 8 years and never had a problem. I dont have to worry about updating it either cos its all automatic. I got a new laptop last year as well which came pre-installed with full version of Norton for 3 years. Last week, Norton told me I had 2 virus's and it couldnt do anything with them - Stuff expensive Norton, I got rid of the virus's and Norton and got AVG on.

McAfee is very good. Not really had to run spyware programs since we had it. Prior to that was getting spyware all the time, also changed to Mozilla Firefox web browser.

There are four free ones that I know of:
avg, avast, anti-vir, and bitdefender 8. They say bitdefender is a great program so you can always try one of them and see if it works for you. Good Luck...

hmmmmm...... open your computing gadget up, and verify teh connection to the HD. it would desire to in basic terms be a connection situation, yet in addition if your HD is over ninety% finished that seems to slow computers down. yet for thefirst 10mins in basic terms? Thats unusual,in no way heard of that occuring previously... solid success!

www.avast.com is a great free program that works better than any of the other free ones, and as well as the pay ones.
