can anyone tell me what the UN has done in the past, lets say, 15 years, that has actually benefited the US and not harmed it? is it a waste of money for US taxpayers?

its a waste of money, we should get out asap. it is very corrupt and it has done nothing for the united states exept make us look bad and try to make us join the one world government phylosophy that most of europe is taking.

Parts of the UN include UNESCO, WHO, and NGOs (Non-Government Organisations) that are helping to get certain levels of co-operated activity happening between many countries of the world.
The goal of World Peace is bigger than the USA can achieve alone. The UN as it is, cannot achieve this either, but is an important stepping stone in the right direction.
Moves are being made to develop the UN to a higher level.
The UN has buildings in other parts of the world (Genieva, Bankok...), so it is not completely drawing its resources from the USA alone.

Several peacekeeping, and humanitarian operations. Border security between hostile nations, etc.
The UN has its problems, but it's an oragnization that has helped prevent war so many times. Give the UN some REAL power, and see all the good it can do.

I think if you really want to know you should research this topic your self, I did and I believe the UN is very good for America and its interests. But see what you find in your search...good luck

True.. But we can not just pull away from it, The U.S is already looked at as being arogant by all other nations (thanks to bush) We for sure would be all on our own if we did that. No other country would dare help us in anything. WE would be BLACK LISTED sortof speak.

it is beneficial to all but US. and all others know why!if it is going to be beneficial to US then it should have only UK other than US. all else got something called a conscious and back bone.
