AVG is an awesome choice. The only differences between the free version and the paid version is some plugins (firewall, resident shield, custom email scanning, custom scheduling)
Otherwise you get the full version of the antivirus, unlike most other "free" antiviruses where they give you a stripped down version of the main program AVG gives you the whole enchilada

AVG is the best antivirus as its updating process is not time-sucking like norton antivirus. Go for AVG. Its free and the best!

My AVG Anti Virus 7.5 detected and quarantined, the Internet Worm- RavMonE.exe :Potentially Unwanted Programs l ike Adware Generic EBC,EAZ,EAYand EBD and also theBrontok virus. All these viruses were detected by my AVG7.5 when my friend used her pendrive to save her assignments using my computer. All in my AVG caught 22 viruses at one go from her pendrive. My Friend's pen drive was infected because she likes to open emails and all the attachments and save in her pendrive....So I think AVG is a very good anti-virus program.
