Now lemme answer this question with an exapmple..

**** today is a bad day

Here i have not used punctuations.
a person may interpret it as -

****! Today is a bad day!!!(meaning, curses.. today is not a good day)
**** today, is a bad day.(meaning go to the toilet now, is a bad day)
**** today is, a bad day (today is a heapload of droppings.. a bad day)

This is what happens when punctuations are not present..
many more problems too.. message me, ill reply in detail..

I?t al;low's p[e)ople t-o und!erstand w"h:at y`ou a.r.e tr'ying t(o s{ay

Now, is it easy to understand what I just wrote? That is the importance of proper punctuation.

If you don't punctutate properly you can change what you mean.
For example:

Have a nice day? (punctutaion helps us know this is a question)
Have a nice day! (could be conceived as sarcastic)
Have a nice day...(looks like there;s something you wanted to say but didn't)
Have a nice day. (simple sentence)

Sew, a needle pulling thread...(tells us what the word 'sew' means)
Sew a needle pulling thread (the action of making a needle and thread by sewing which is impossible)

Take me. (Take me to the (un)specified place)
Take, me? (Don't accuse me of stealing)
Take me! (RIght here, right now)

tomsmith (one who makes tom drums)
Tom Smith (proper noun or name)

Right this way. (follow me)
Right, this way. (this is the right way to do it or turn right)
Right? This way? (Am I right to go this way?)
Right. This way. (You are correct. This is the right way)

Weren't.
We rent.
We're nt.

John's (belonging to John)
Johns (men looking for prostitutes)
johns (bathrooms)
'johns (slang for long underwear)

Help me! (I need your help urgently)
Help me? (WIll you help me?)
Help? Me? (Do you really think I'm going to help you?)
Help me. (Could you please assist me?)
Help! Me? (Dialogue)

ill (sick)
I'll (I will)

Punctutation is not present in all languages but it helps us understand some of the finer points of language. Chinese Mandarin does not really have punctutation but you add 'ma' at teh end if its a question and 'de' for a possessive, etc.

Well, it's respectable. You don't want to have a reseme that's one big run on sentence, right?
Also, it helps express what's being read.
