I have been using BitComet which is a combination of all the torrent compilers, but everything seems to download really slowly. I am interested in joining a downloading system where I would even have to pay just a little bit to have priority downloading so that it goes faster. Thanks!

Well torrents are slow to download....the only way to actually increase your downloads is to create torrents and share them....that way ur speed increases bcoz u share........so the more u share ..the faster u can download......Instead of BitComet try Azureus...its faster
OR
Try other softwares reliable on the Gnutella Network like Limewire .....They give faster downloads and have integrated search tools too.....

a different program won't help you (well, not unless you've been fiddling with the max up and download speed settings)
For torrents, two things help:
1) lots of peers and seeds; for bittorrent it is the more the merrier. If you go downloading torrents that only have a couple of seeds you will be waiting for weeks. If you find a torrent that has thousands of downloaders, you will be done in minutes
2) better internet connection. and by better I mean symmetrical (as much download capacity as upload capacity). A lot of the home broadband connections are woefully asymmetrical (like 4 Mbit down 1 Mbit up) and this will affect your torrent speed.

yes, torrents are slow, but they get faster as more people use them. there is a program called torrent accellerator, but im not entirely sure how it works. one way to speed it up is to, for example, if you have 3 tasks, put one of them on high priority, and the others on low. then when one finishes, switch the next to high, etc. you will get individual files faster this way. also, if you set your upload speed to unlimited, your torrents will go a bit faster. if you want to pay for faster downloads, try apple.
