How can an aspiring artist possibly get a better exposure to the world?

My point is how can I advertise myself in the Internet by means of Yahoo!.Com, for ex. I have already registred MySpace on Yahoo!.Com but it haven't emerged in the search engine. Advices are welcome

Here's some general advice:

1. Consider purchasing a domain name and a low cost hosting solution as opposed to using MySpace. You'll be able to brand yourself better and you're site will be easier to promote. Because your MySpace page is essentially a second level domain it'll be really low on the search hierarchy.

2. Tell everyone you know about the site. Join message boards related to your art and keep a link to your site in your signature. If you want more exposure, arrange for ads on such message boards.

3. Give away some promotional gear. Print up some t-shirts, caps, pencils, whatever with your website address on it and just give them away.

4. Take out an print ad in a local publication.

5. Try out online advertising programs like Google Adsense.

Getting to the top of searches takes loads of time and will probably cost you a few bucks to get up there faster than usual. Just realize it's not as simple as submitting your site to a search engine. You have to be proactive in your promotion.
