Hi. I have been experiencing sweats in the night that have woken me up a few times, and have left me clammy in the morning. At night I seem to be running a fever, as when my partner touches my skin he says it is burning up. However when I wake, I feel fine. I tend to kick off the blankets at night, whereas he doesn't, and when I wake up I am so clammy that I feel disgusting. Please help, and no silly answers as I just want some advice. Thanks.

I am only 21 years old, in good health although I do suffer with occasional kidney problems which I admit was bothering me quite recently. I am not over weight (I am a size 8-10) and I exercise daily.

You know I don't really know if I have an answer for you but I have the same problem.

My partner says some nights are worse than others and it seems my body is putting off heat all the time. Sometimes I am so hot my partner cant sleep near me!

It may have something to do with the kidney problems. I have kidney problems as well. I could swear I am running a fever but when I check I am as normal as can be.

And besides the kidney problems I am fine otherwise. I just have learned what not to wear to bed and how many covers to sleep with. I also use a fan.

My doctor did say once however that it could be from the kidneys storing the waste it needs to release because your body at night is relaxed and in sleep mode. And because of this and the kidney problems it can make the kidneys spasm and the body reacts with heat. The body heating up even with fever is its way of fighting the unknown.

Here you can find a very effective natural treatment for diabetes: http://diabete-cure.gelaf.info

Diabetes can be "reversed" or go into "remission". I believe that what that is is decreasing the need to take medications. A person who has diabetes will always have it... but there are cases where a type 2 can either reduce medications or even eliminate them... but will still need to watch diet, get plenty of exercise and keep their weight down. This is called management and control. However, that does not mean that there will never be one. Research has taken huge advances and the more scientists learn about it, the higher likelihood that a cure might come about someday.
While I did recently read an article that stated gastric lap band or gastric bypass MAY be a potential cure, more research is needed and even if this one day is a cure, it would only be effective on type 2s who are obese since neither of those procedures are performed on people who are of normal weight or body mass. Stem cell transplants are still highly controversial and most likely, have a long way to go before it is approved as a diabetes cure by the FDA. Since the vast majority of diabetics are type 2 (roughly 90%), those of us who are type 1 seem to get lost in the shuffle. EMT type 1 for more years than I care to remember, use a pump. Let me add that when I mean diabetes can be controlled and managed without medication but with diet, exercise and weight control, I'm referring to type 2. This is not an option for type 1s, who must take insulin, either by injections or a pump, to survive.

CAUSES OF NIGHT SWEATS

1) Menopause or Andropause. Menopause in women is the most common cause of night sweats. However, some men also suffer from night sweats during the male menopause, or andropause.

2)HIV, tuberculosis. In fact, any infectious disease or condition that brings on a fever can cause night sweats.

3)Diabetes Insipidus.
Diabetes insipidus can also cause night sweats.

4)Sleep apnea. This is the one that most concerns us. Night sweats can also be a sign of sleep apnea. If you also suffer from severe snoring and excessive daytime sleepiness, it might be time for a study.

5)Alcohol, some drugs, spicy foods. Consumption of any of these can cause night sweats. And by drugs, I'm not necessarily referring to street drugs. Some prescription drugs, like Zoloft, can also cause night sweats.

6)Idiopathic hyperhidrosis – Idiopathic hyperhidrosis is a condition in which the body chronically produces too much sweat without any identifiable medical cause

7)Cancers – Night sweats are an early symptom of some cancers. The most common type of cancer associated with night sweats is lymphoma. However, people who have an undiagnosed cancer frequently have other symptoms as well, such as unexplained weight loss and fevers.

8)Hormone disorders - Sweating or flushing can be seen with several hormone disorders, including pheochromocytoma, carcinoid syndrome, and hyperthyroidism.

9)Neurologic conditions – Uncommonly, neurologic conditions including autonomic dysreflexia, post-traumatic syringomyelia, stroke, and autonomic neuropathy may cause increased sweating and possibly lead to night sweats.

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.
