The present perfect tense is a perfect tense used to express action that has been completed with respect to the present. (It is considered a present tense, not a past tense, since the resulting state is in the present.) "I have finished" is an example of the present perfect. The Present Perfect is a compound tense; it is formed by using the present tense of "have" ("have" or "has") and the past participle of a verb. In the above example, the past participle "finished" is the main verb, while "have" is the auxiliary verb.

Example:
I have been assigned homework. The teacher has asked for an example of 'present perfect tense'. I have completed the assignment with a little help from my friends.
Hope this helps!

As a teacher in Brazil I have tried along the years to teach the use of the present perfect. There are many uses, and the basic line is when an action which started in the past goes on up to the present.Have a look at a good grammar book.Your efford will help you out.See, for instance, Raymond Murphy´s English Grammar in Use.

Great results! :) Promo: Well, what a match last night....There's no doubt it was great, but honestly, is anyone really surprised about the outcome? I know I'm not, and any wrestling fan with half a brain out there should have already expected these results. I can tell you people are disappointed that your favorite "Knockouts" couldn't pick up a victory for you, but that's what you get for supporting useless bimbos. Wrestlers like Ms. Extreme, Jamie AJ Lee, and Miss Destiny Vaine aren't people you can count on to deliver great performances for you. Now me on the other hand, I deliver great wrestling every time I step into a ring, regardless of if I'm supported by you blind sheep or not. And I say this because quite frankly, I don't think you people get it. Every time you so much as hear my name, you boo me. News Flash, people: What you say about me doesn't bother me. Your booing is like music to my ears. It doesn't affect or discourage me, if anything it just makes me want to go out there and work twice as hard to make sure that I am victorious. The feeling of getting my hand raised at the end of a match is so much more rewarding than hearing an arena full of people cheering. Now moving on, I just want to point out how obvious the difference in experience levels was last night. You ladies really have a whole lot to learn about wrestling, and even though I would prefer to be wrestling Knockouts that are on the same level as me, I will find a way to adjust to the embarrassment that is YWWA's current woman's division. After the match, I noticed that there is hope for GaleKenzie. They don't have completely unfortunate wrestling skills and they are miles ahead of Ms. Extreme, Jamie AJ Lee, and Miss Destiny Vaine. But I don't want to give them too much credit, after all, they aren't terrific, they're just good compared to the other new Knockouts here. As for what Miss Extreme said about me, sounds like someone still hasn't gotten over the huge spear I landed on her at the end of the match...Get over yourself Extreme, I don't think you want your fans to see you acting like a pissy crybaby, now do you?

Present perfect uses the structure "have done" or "has done".
Your teacher has given you an assignemnt about the present perfect. I have explained the present perfect to you. Once you have read the paragraph, you have learned what you need to understand.
