Normally that early they won't be able to hear it with a Doppler. With a sonogram there is a possibility of hearing it though at 7 weeks. My doc wouldn't even try to listen to mine at my last appointment because I was only 9 weeks along. She said she would try at the next one when I will be 13 weeks. I think the average time to hear it for the first time with a Doppler is 10 to 11 weeks. But there are always exceptions. Good luck. I know that the waiting it hard.

At 7 weeks and 5 days we were able to see the heartbeat on a vaginal ultrasound, and hear it with the doppler. It looked like a little moving grain of rice inside of a blob. I don't know what kind of equipment your midwife has, but the doctor's was able to pick it up.

I had my first appointment with the midwife and 10 weeks and she didn't listen for the heartbeat because she said it was too early. Apparently some midwives don't try until later because they might not be able to hear it and that causes unnecessary anxiety for the mother.

I heard our baby's heartbeat at 7weeks and 4 days in hospital for my ultrasound scan and then again at 12 weeks and 3days with the midwife at home. She did advise me that I might not hear it but it was amazing when I did!

i'm additionally 17 weeks pregnant. I had a Dr. appointment final week and we heard the toddler's coronary heart beat. It took a at a similar time as to locate it yet we did. if your midwife has certainly one of those doppler machines made especially to hearken to and degree the fetal heartbeat than you should haven't any issue listening to it.

Usually they attempt to hear the heart beat at 8 weeks. Sometimes you can not detect it right away, which is normal. They'll have you then come in a few weeks later and check again.

I was told by my doctor that you can hear the hearbeat as early at 10 weeks. I went in and he couldn't hear anything. I went back for the 12 week check up and they could hear it just fine. It was so exciting. :) Hope you can hear it soon. There is nothing like it in the world.

They heard mine at weeks so probably, its more to get your forms filled in etc... and get your dating scan booked; first scan to get edd - expected date of delivery. They will also have a feel to see if things are as expected.
All the best.
