UNIVERSITY :
A university is an institution of higher education and research, which grants academic degrees at all levels (bachelor, master, and doctorate) in a variety of subjects. A university provides both tertiary and quaternary education. The word university is derived from the Latin universitas magistrorum et scholarium, roughly meaning "community of masters and scholars".
COLLEGE :
College (Latin collegium) is a term most often used today to denote an educational institution. More broadly, it can be the name of any group of colleagues (see for example electoral college, College of Arms). Originally it meant a group of people living together under a common set of rules (con-, "together" + leg-, "law"); indeed, some colleges call their members "fellows". The precise usage of the term varies among English-speaking countries.

The difference between the University and the college is that the University is the one which has the more power than the college the University is the one which will set papers for the examination and will have the control over the colleges in almost all activities for the college which was under its direct supervision Ex Anna University is a University which controls lot of colleges

at the same time as a US college is termed a “college” it really is a unmarried college. even if it really is a “college” it really is a call of numerous colleges. once you flow to a school you actually attend a school it really is area of the college. operating example, my daughter is on the faculty of records technologies, Engineering and Sciences that's area of a more beneficial college. The college also has a school of liberal arts and a school of medication. to boot, commonly colleges are purely undergrad colleges. colleges with graduate courses are many times observed as universities. There are colleges with graduate courses yet no longer lots. if you're going for an undergrad degree it really is wonderful to flow to a 4 12 months college rather of a school. notwithstanding, in Canada, a “college” is what's termed a “community college interior the united states of a. The 4 12 months colleges in Canada are Universities.

In most countries both are considered higher education institute , post high school systems.
Universities are fulfledge learning institutes. Have lots of subjects offered and lots of degrees at different levels are given out.
Colleges are limited learning institutes at its inception. They may grow in to big diversified institute over time. They may keep their college name, as they are well know by their original name.
Very few colleges achieve this status. They are good institutes catering to provide 2 to 4 years of post high school education in most cases, student pick up other institute after 2 year associate degree or just continue their studies else where, this is true if it is a 2 year college. 4 year colleges do give out Bachelors degree. Some may have even Masters and Doctorate programs but they are an exception rather then rule.

A university is an institution of higher education and research, which grants academic degrees at all levels (bachelor, master, and doctorate) in a variety of subjects. A university provides both tertiary and quaternary education.
In American English, the word, in contrast to its many and varied British meanings, almost always refers to undergraduate university studies or to a school providing professional or technical training on a (loosely) comparable level. It can therefore refer to both a self-contained institution that has no graduate studies and to the undergraduate school of a full university (i.e. that also has a graduate school). The usual practice in the United States today is to use "university" in the official names of institutions made up of several faculties or "schools" and granting a range of higher degrees while "college" is used in the official names of smaller institutions only granting bachelor's or associate's degrees.
