The world has never been a closed settlement, no matter what the societies tell us. Strangers and outsiders have always influenced, directly or indirectly, the course that societies exist upon. The only difference now is, because our accumulated 'memory' has reached a critical period of evidence, passed on now as history that repeats itself, we are better able to understand this phenomenon. We have always been world citizens, we just didn't know it.
