They just stand there, often times holding signs, making wonderful targets of themselves. I find it extremely tempting to throw things, whether it be a banana or an empty, crumpled-up beer can, as I drive on by. My aim has been improving lately, as I've managed to nail several in the last week, but I do wonder if it is illegal.

Yes - it's called littering - and you can be fined up to $200.00 in many places.

You sound very troubled. I will pray for you!

Dude, all i can think of is Karma and the 7 fold rule.....
so sad for you.

throwing things from your car is littering. (a misdemeanor)
throwing an object with the intention of injuring someone, is assault and battery (a misdemeanor or a felony in some states)
there may be other charges, fines, and possible civil proceeding stemming from your wanton and willful actions, we are not even speaking of the Karma debt.

Advice: stop doing that!

Yes, it's illegal. You might want to try thinking about exactly how they got where they are, because you would be surprised at how quickly and effortlessly everything can be lost. Accidents happen, especially when you're leaning out the window throwing things.

Practice with me: "Officer, the gentleman appeared to be hungry so I was only trying to offer him a healthy piece of fruit. Are you aware that bananas are consider 'SuperFood'? True. This fellow looked like he could use one..."

"Officer, I apologize. I mistook the gentleman for a recycling container. He appeared to have a large number of garments covering him, much as a clothing recycling bin... and that was my egregious error... mea culpa...."

Or just be careful and remember the old addage "Nothing is illegal if you don't get caught." It's like that tree falling in the forest when no one is there to hear it....

It is not a crime to be broke and have nobody that cares. I hope it never happens to you. please try to be a little bit more compassionate and let them be if nothing else.
it is just as much a crime as it is to throw things out window at people who own homes. try tossing cans and banana peels at your neighbor and see what happens. or your Moms neighbor because I suspect you are a minor.
