No, not necessarily, but this is usually a very important personal value. You have to be very careful to respect their beliefs and not try to change their beliefs, which is sure to arouse resentments. Also, children born in the marriage create another situation.

Good luck.

Peace.

I donot think religion is important for sucessfull marriage but in most religions I know a man and a woman must be on the same religion so as to get married. In my opinion don`t let religion stop you from getting married to someone really love.

Hello there,

I really don't think you need to be of the same religion caste or creed, dear friend is the love and understanding between you two that will take your life ahead.

If you two can understand each other and respect each religion caste or creed and are deeply in love then you don't have to fear.

You can get married and live and blissful life.

Yes. if both are from different religion, the children will have alot of problems - what religion to obey and follow. E.g. washing before praying, praying before washing, etc. In fact, there will be confusion for the children. Except one of them have to agree and come together as one religion.

Depends on how much religion sways in your life. Talk about it, learn each others religion and develop some practices from each. Granted there might be cultural issues and how open is their family to those. Had a Jewish and Christian friend...they celebrated both Christmas and Hanukkah, each RESPECTIVE to the other.

No thats just dumb. Think of it this way, when god created us, there was no religion (if there was, it was one belief only), everyone is the same, we have the same creator etc, and to see religion as a factor in deciding love, thats definately wrong. Remember the saying "Love knows no bounds"

Sometimes you must belong to the same religion to be married in a church but still that shouldn't be.

No but if one is very religious you may have problems later on. I have a friend who is baptist and her husband was raised catholic so it makes a difference with their baby what church to raise the kids in. Think about it and talk it over with other mixed religion couples

If you obey bible principles then yes, you should be of the same religion when you marry. That what it means to be "equally yoked".
