Thoughts lead to actions. Actions lead to become habits, and habits may form a peron's major characteristics, or character.

For someone who doesn't like to be kept waiting or to wait for others, such a person may make timeliness or punctuality an important part of his life. Others like thrift, care and concern (for others), and the willingness to dirty one's hands may be built up over years, usually from young. I've come across many such people in my life, and usually these are very successful people. They are not the most brilliant (in terms of academic achievements), but such people have many positive traits that may be a recipe for success. In a way, the combination of many positive attributes (or character) may determine one's destiny.
