Are you speaking about the diamond or the cartoon character?
The diamond does'nt really exist, though there are diamonds that are pink in colour. The reason for the pink colour in diamonds is still unknown, but it can be safely said that it is caused by some impurity present in the carbon when the diamond was formed.
The cartoon character, was called the pink panther because of a legend about a Pink Diamond. Legend has it, that if one stared deeply into the diamond, the form of a panther could be seen. Since the diamond was pink, the panther also appeared pink.
