To do this you need to find the derivative of the function and the plug in the "x" value from your point.

The derivative of y = 7 - x^2 + 4x^3 is 2x - 12x^2
2(-1) - 12(-x)^2 = -14

The derivative of )y = 3x^2 - 4/x is 6x + 4/x^2
6(2) + 4/2^2 = 13
