Menstrual cups are cups that go into the vagina to collect blood; they can be left for up to 12 hours and are a lot safer than tampons, more convenient than pads, and the most hygienic option for sanitary protection.

Of course you can walk with it in, they wouldn't have been around for so long or be as popular if you couldn't even walk with it in! They are actually more comfortable than tampons.

The youngest I have known is 16 years old, I was about 19 or 20 when I started using one and god did I wish I had known about them when I was 13 as they would have saved me a whole lot of hassle and embarrassment at school with my heavy periods!!
They are fine for young girls, because there is no risks associated they are a lot better than tampons because there is less risk of TSS that young girls bodies cannot deal as well with due to fewer antibodies and no risk of vaginal splitting, younger girls vaginal walls aren't as thick as women's so more prone to damage. They are a lot easier to put in because they are made form silicone or rubber so no friction and a lot easier for girls to deal with because they don't have to change them all the time.
The only problems really are that they can break the hymen that may be an issue for some girls and the whole 'ew periods!' sort of response might make them a little squeamish about using one, especially as they don't teach girls about them – normally they get told they have to use either tampons or pads, and they imply pads are for babies so girls feel they have to use tampons in order to be grown up and they are too immature to learn otherwise at that age. Other than that though, it's best for girls to start off with healthy body-positive options like menstrual cups rather than risking tampons or feeling uncomfortable with pads.

I only started using my Divacup a few years ago, early twenties, but I'm sure women who use menstrual cups end up buying them for their daughters too so there are probably far younger girls using them now...I know when I have kids I'll be buying one for my daughter, unless she wants to start off with pads or free-flow first of course! I think the woman who invented the Keeper had her young daughters using them as well, probably not many young girls using them when they first came out decades ago as I think girls got their periods later back then. Nothing wrong with girls using menstrual cups at all, they are a lot safer and generally all around better than tampons and enough girls risk using them.

Menstrual cups are a very practical alternative to pads. I used insatead for a while but quit because taking it out was too messy. However I think that if u wanna use them u should be at least fifteen and comfortable with yr body.

I know someone who bought a cup for someone at 13, she had a bit of trouble getting it in because her hymen was still there but yeah she was fine with it.
