Mathematics wouldn't be as advanced as it is today without the zero. This is because you may have noticed that 0 is very 'powerful' meaning that if for example i had the following expression:
999999x8575x75238x652938x753928x7539042x34173x0
the answer would be 0.
It is this type of number that helps in simplifying alot of equations in calculus. Believe me, without the number 0, planes would not have been to fly!

no two digit numbers ....
with our ten based numbering system, the largest number would be 9 with nothing after it ...
so we could need to change to a 35 based system using numbers and the alphabet so we could count all our fingers and toes (1-9, A-Z)
Maths in some New Guinean tribes as recently as 50 years ago had a 5 based numbering system. It was 1, 2, 3, 4, HAND !
There was no need for any number higher than that because no-one had more than 5 wives. If you were so rich as to have more than 5 pigs, then they's just say HAND, the way we'd say Millionaire no matter how many hundreds of millions someone has.
Interesting question - you are not New Guinean, are you?

be happy that zero has been invented by INDIANS. Without zero life wold have been miserable zero is the origin of decimal system if there was no 0 then probabaly technology would have not been progressive. theer would have been a meddling with numbers and we would have been not be able tocoun the century we aree living in.hence imagination is also so cruel thank our forefathers for inventing 0

Mathematics would never be accurate and there would not even at one time that one could relate an event mathermaticaly. actually there would never ber any fomulars or there would be another symbol to represent nothing,nill,void etc
