At the beginning of September, I had my serpentine belt replace (almost 100,000 miles on my car). Since that time, it has jumped off 3 times (as of yesterday). First, the mechanic stated it was the water pump barrings causing it, so they replaced my water pump. The second time, they said it was the tension spring, so they replaced that. Because it happened on a Sunday, I've not got an answer for this time, but WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS!!! I've already sunk almost $1,000 in it over the last 2 months and it's an 8 year old car!!!! Help, anyone who knows all about cars. This is a 98 Ford ZX2 if that helps.

Take a look at the belt from the side veiw, are all the pulleys in line? One pulley out of line or sitting at an angle to the others will cause the belt to jump off. Before replacing the belt, check all off the pulleys to make sure there is no play in them, you cant do this with the belt on because there will be tension on the pulleys.
Also check the pulleys and make sure there isnt a piece of an old belt melted into the belt grooves on the pulley

It has to do with either an alignment issue or the tensioner. Easiest thing to check is the resistance on the tensioner. The belt should be VERY tight, only with a long wrench attached to the tensioner should you be able to remove the belt. If you can remove the belt without significant force on the tensioner then there is not enough pressure being applied.

Its the idler pulley bearing. It has failed and the belt is out of alignment. Sometimes the pulley bearing is replaceable. On some cars you have to replace the entire tensioner assembly.
