Is the whole frenzied debate on supermarket packaging really the hottest topic we should be debating or is it the most absurd tokenism that typifies debate in the UK today ?

yes i agree and as a football fan I also think soccer is also hogging the news all the time, there are more important things for the media to focus on and Parliament also could stop a few debates which are irrelevant

It may be worse in the US. Last year, a woman who ran away from her wedding preempted national and world news coverage for at least a week. Your packaging issues at least have environmental and health consequences. The skipped wedding had no further ramifications for anyone except the stiffed groom and embarrassed families.
