Have I changed a setting in Word accidentally? How can I just copy and paste stuff from webpages without it appearing with html all over it?

Try to paste your data to a simpler text editor such as notepad! (start->run->notepad)

If you really need to paste it to ms-word, paste it to notepad first, then copy it from notepad and paste it to ms-word!

Word is a syntax based software. So if you copy and content from the websites, it retains the hyperlinks to those pages. If you noticed that in the formating combo box (which appears in the toolbar) it shows as hypertext. In such a case select the entire text ands convert it vto normal. This will reset the entire text into just text. The hyperlinks will just disappear from the page.

Another way of doing it to place the text into some text editing software like notepad and then copy and paste the same content in the word dpcument. But incase you do that you will loose the images associated with the page, incase you require them.

One way is to carefully select only the text you want to copy, and then to paste it into the Notepad program. Notepad is a text only program and will accept the words, but not any of the hyperlinks, formatting, pictures, colors, etc. It will strip the page down to nothing but the text. Then copy for Notepad into Word and you will have text only. Once in Word, you can format the text however you want.

Either:
*Copy text only. Don't copy an entire page, copy it in chunks of text.
*When in word, highlight the entire document. Then select the hyperlink option, and then select it again. All hyperlinks should disappear.
