I always here live your life to the fullest, make the most of everyday, or my favorite this is the first day of the rest of your life. BUT what does living your life to the fullest mean? Does anyone know? If people did know how to live their lives to the fullest no one would be unhappy. Sometime the things we think will make us happy don't satisfy all our needs. Of course I try to do this everyday yet I feel like there is always more I want to get out of life each day. If seems like I'm never satisfied. Does living your life to the fullest mean making money and consuming as many material goods as much as possible, spending time with family and friends as much as possible, balance or combination of these, or just going through day to day gaining wisdom so you can better answer this Yahoo question or what?

just do what you want to do and don't waste it worrying about what you missed out on. do what makes you happy and have no regrets. don't worry what others think. for some its helping others, for others its purely materialistic.

I really like this question as I am going through a bit of an existensial crisis myself at the moment - one that has lasted since i left school. I dont think there are any clear answers. We are all individuals and as such our expectations, drives, motivations et etc (into infinity) are individual too. I beleive that it is impossible to live life to the fullest in any concrete sense as once you have acheived something you want there is always something else that replaces it...even down to eating dinner and making love. Ultimately there are no easy or singular answers, I am not a pessimist at all but I do realise (even thought it's hard) that i will never be satisfied. I definately beleive that that life is not about being a good little consumer, I do try every day in some way to expand my understanding and reach out into the world, however, without sounding fatalistic, I don't actually beleive there is a reason for our existance as such, just ahuman impulse to fill ouselves in which every way we choose whether that be with drugs, money, family, religion...etc. I have to admire people who feel there lives have a path...I am not an aimless person, just one who struggles with what the point of all the drudge boredom and stress there is in the world. I live a happy life on the surface, I have kids a mortgage etc, but what do I teach my children about ambition 'the bigger scheme' if I dont really see one myself

By living life to the fullest you do things as best you know possible. Not leaving things half done or not doing unnecessary things which may waste time. If you feel unsatisfied with your daily activities, it doesn't mean that you didn't live life to the fullest, in fact it means that you are doing well at living it full. You dont waste any time & Im sure you are learning lifes presious lessons as you go.

I would say it's a subjective thing. I hear ya when you say you never feel satisfied. Maybe that's what keeps us motivated, living, feeling, thinking. I don't, however, think money and material goods are the answer. Maybe it's going to bed each night knowing you were the best you could be for that day. To sum it up, I have no idea.

At the most basic level..... it just means living in such a way that you can die content in the knowledge that you haven't totally wasted your life.

Of course thats just a self-conjured illusion... because all life is a 'waste' in the classic sense.... since it never amounts to anything intransient....

But thats not the point.
The point is that you live life the way you want and are ok with it... content.... without regrets nor wants...
Thats it. The lot. The whole. All there is to it.

First,I really like your Q,good one.
i think living life to the fullest means that you shouldn't be living aimlessly, you should have a goal to pursue everyday, and enjoy life at the same time ,it means get closer to people,be ambtious,do your favourite hobbies more often.smell the roses as they say
you know what? when i buy a nice book or do exercises and feel i'm taking care of my mental and physical health, i feel i'm living life to the fullest.
try to be someone who leaves a print in people's hearts when they meet you..be optimistic.
try to know more about everything, knowledge is great way to feel you're alive.
someday ,i'd really like to be someone who people call "wise"..that's fulfilling!do you think so?

sorry for my long answer!
God Bless You

Knowing yourself means, what do you want from your life.
One has to set a goal and work very hard to achieve it. And
I may say, sincere work hardly goes unrewarded. So now it
is up to you whether you become Bill Gates or Burtrand Russel.
One has to set a goal to live a fullest life.

I think what it means is doing everything you do as well as you can. Like if youre in work, give it all you got. Or if youre with youre girlfriend give her all your attention dont be thinking about work or anything else. If youre involved in sports and youre playing a match for example, then give that all your attention. So i think that if you give whatever youre doing at that time all your attention then youre living life to its fullest.........

This saying is more of a reflection of a wishful thinking. If someone wishes that they were happier in the past, they will say this to camouflage their own dissatisfaction of their own lives. Still, try to enjoy life as much as you could be distancing yourself from the people and the places that tend to make you unhappy and by positive thinking.
