I would try DampRid moisture absorption crystals. You can buy a tub or two at the major discounters or home improvement stores. They come in large tubs with a plastic cover with holes in it and crystals that absorb moisture out of the wood and enviornment. They aren't expensive, they remove the odor and are easy to use. You have to check them now and again to dump out the water and make them last longer, however. But, they are great for your application. I used them when a pipe broke and dumped water into my cupboard under the sink. It took about a month until the tubs collected all of the water that had soaked into the wood and eliminated that damp musty smell.
