If I am indignant or disgusted enough I key on
"Report Abuse" and give them a load of name calling.
No points, but I get my jollies for free and that's at least
as good as 2 points. By the way thanks for the 2 points.
And just in case you or voters pick mine as "Best Answer"
thank you or everyone for the 10 more points.

Whenever I see someone answer a question with something insulting I click the little thumbs down button beside their answer. I figure that if someone went to the bother of asking that question maybe they don't know better. Thus, answering teh question seriously with a little friendly explanation as to why its an ignorant is probably a much better idea. Face it--everyone who spends enough time on yahoo answers to notice something like that (myslef included) is a dumbass because there are so many better things we could be doing with our time instead sitting on our asses in front of a screen talking about how people call other people dumbasses and its not nice. Points are worthless but it makes me feel good when I get a best answer and get to sahre some of the things I know about. Also I often learn things on Answers--mostly about the kind of things that people have questions about.

Yes.

The points are not useful for anything except to indicate to others an individuals contribution towards the Y!A site - on this you are quite correct.

It is, however, NOT a game. It is Yahoo!'s attempt to construct a knowledge database for this and future generations based on natural language questions and answers. That is why such answers are pointless in the scheme of things as they offer nothig to the knowledge base.

roflmao.....you're kidding , right? They say that because they dont even want to waste their time answering your bigoted, generalizing, ignorant questions!!! I dont think Yahoo! expected this to be thought of as a "game". I'm sure it was supposed to be a place where people could find real answers to their questions from people with similiar experiences...How shocking that someone who apparantly doesnt have a sensitivity chip couldnt realize this...oh, I almost forgot...thanks for the 2 points, dumass!!(I couldnt resist)

The question that you asked that you are referring to was:

'Has there ever been a incident recorded of an Americans **** exploding from being so fat?'

Many people, Americans and non-Americans alike would find this offensive and deliberating designed to get a rise out of someone. Cerealkiller034 did find it insulting and responded by saying 'thanks for 2 points dumass'. So I would say that you were successful in getting a rise out of her.

So of course for you it is amusing when people answer your question like that, that was the result you were hoping for.

Not much of a psychological challenge there, I think.

Totally agree! Maybe when you get to the top of the leaderboard, Yahoo sends you a paper crown so you can sit in front of your pc and be king/queen of all you survey. These people really need to get out more.
Have to admit to a rosie glow when my answer is best though, almost like winning an auction on ebay and maybe a little addictive. OMG, I'm an 'answers' junkie! :))

They probably don't care about the points, they just want to insult you twice in one sentence without sounding redundant. The funny thing is, a lot of very good questions get that response, especially in the politics or religion topics.

I think people do it when a stupid question has been asked. I personally don't understand why people don't just search Wikipedia and Google themselves for the answers - they are blatantly there. So many requests for song lyrics and the like - they are there for you to find.

I guess some people will do that even it is wrong it is up to their consience, anyway I never answered a question that I have no idea for the subject. Just imagine if you didnt answer the question your consience will bother you for only 2 pts.

I agree with you, it is stupid. I answer questions where I think my viewpoint will help someone or I can give advice on something I know about.

PS - Cereal Killer034 - In WW2, America DIDN'T care about Hitler invading other countries - You only joined the war as revenge on the Japanese for bombing Pearl Harbour. It seems that when us Brits declare war on another nation, you don't want to get involved yet you EXPECT us to join in your wars (i.e. Iraq/Saddam Hussein).
