Well HUMAN life SEEMS sacred to US, because we're human. We identify and empathize with humans, so we feel human life is special. We're not objective about it, and how could we be? If we were sentient cats we would think feline life was sacred. If we were sentient cows we would feel bovine life was sacred. But we're human, so we treasure human life.
That's all, it's only our perspective. There is no such thing as 'sacred' outside of the human mind.

Lose someone that you love, a parent, a child and ask yourself, "Was that life sacred?" Am I less for having lost that person or more because they were in my life for a period of time.

Sacred? That word implies an entire gnostic belief system I don't buy into.

No, that's right. Not for me to tell you what to do.
