It would depend on the reality show. If we are talking about the surreal life than I would say yes, they are just doing something for exposure on the notion that being on something will make them popular again. But if you are talking about something like Dancing with the stars than I would have to say no. I doubt that Sara Evans' career is over. Jerry Springer is still going strong, Mario lopez still hosts kids shows and that girl from high school musical is just starting out. so like I said before, it would depend on the nature of the reality show!

most of theses celebs are no longer in the public eye, example ex soap actors, comedians who can no longer get wrk, but when they get to tasks etc they bottle out and act like spoit children but they are so wel protected that nothing is going to hurt them and they are not as far away from civilisation (celeb get me out of here) and if they cared that much about their profile they would should sack their agent for allowing to make fools of themselves.

Plus its a tacky way for tv companies to fill time slots, the sad thing is the people who watch, phone the show, the media also should shun these has beens.

I guess that is one interpretation.

Others are that they have completely lost all sense of good taste, or they are actually not a celeb yet, but hope (often forlornly) that they may at some time become a bit more famous.

I think it's more to do with the money they get out of it than a statement about their past career.

It normally means that they have hit a dry spell, even if that has lasted months/years.

Its a publicity stunt to try and gain popularity.

Not over here (the Netherlands) it doesn't......our national celebs all gained more celeb-status by doing such a show.
