I am a hardware engineer. I have a job, which requires me to travel quite oftenly. My wife is very much attached to me. she doesn't like me travelling. Whenever I go on travel, she is sad and she cries. I have tried to convince her, I have told her that "this job is my bread and butter". She also works, but she is still not able to aadjust to this life style. She tells me to change my job. But as I know every decent job, which gives a decent pay, requires a little travel.

Well, All jobs are a compromise, one way or the other. Some make ppl work late regularly & not give them an opportunity to travel, others need you to travel but lets u off early, daily. Yours, seems to be the latter case. There are a million other combinations here that might go but, typically it all comes down to that one single thing, its a "compromise". Work is never supposed to be fun. Thats the reason its not a synonym to either play or party. Well, my friend, like an old saying goes, you cant always choose whats given to you in life, the only thing that u can control is how best u make use of it.

Simply, I suggest, instead of changing jobs which isnt the right thing to do,. Talk it over with your bosses about your personal problems and see if there can be a workaround for this problem of work interfering with one's personal life. As these days, employers are running behind the employees to find out their problems and solve it with regard to working in the company so as to stub the attrition rate, its high time u make hay. (honestly, Its a dumb idea to even TRY to convince your spouse;-)).

So, go ahead and call a meeting with your HR or your manager, whoever are comfy with and talk. (Make sure they are in a good mood, after all they are bosses;-)). I'm sure, U will come out with a glowing smile that will take years to be washed off your face..

Look out for an option to work online. Although it wont pay you like full time job but its good to make some extra cash. I am a part time worker doing work online at home, so I would like to share a link where you can make $600 in a month working at home. The work need to be done is posting a discussion and answering a discussion. the link is:

http://tinyurl.com/yhzzph

if you work smartly, you can even make $1000 or more.. it all depends on your usage pattern. I worked for 2 hour daily last month and i got paid $238 for the last month. Its not bad after all, i am happy and making more. After sign up, do mail me to know the tips on how to increase your earning.

Please let me know, if you have any queries. I will try my best to give you right answer

(PS: When u are planning for a home based online work, be very careful because most of them are scam and ask you to pay initial money. never pay money to any such site.)

Not necessary. Many IT companies require hardware engineers who are required in their plants. They do not have to travel a lot. You can try in some of them.

really? i've never had to travel for a job. it must be nice. i'd love to travel. look on the internet. monster.com, careerbuilder.com or websites in your country. also check out your local papers and ask around. maybe you can take another position in your company which doesn't require travel for only a small change in salary and job description.
