ooh, from experience of someone moving in late when I was in halls...they weren't generally accepted. I think that was down to her being a bit weird to be honest so if your a sound person, don't rush in and take over and force yourself upon people you should be ok.
It'll take time, that's all, but you should have fun. I'd say get in now as at xmas people start to faction off and choose who they want to live with and if you miss this window you could be a bit buggered next summer!

Why should it be too late? People move about all year round especially in first year.
I assume you're a first year?
If it's what you want to do go for it. There is loads of term time left to get to know people etc.

I don't know if it is "better" or not but personally I would leave it because it will mean a lot of expense and upheaval for you right in the middle of the semester. However the decision really is yours.

if there are still rooms available they will welcome you as you will be paying rent. They would rather an occupied room than to allow it to sit empty. Go for it and apply!
