... I'm just honest with my boss.
"Sir, I'm way too HUNG OVER to drive to work. My head is throbbing and I feel like puking. I can't make it in today. I'm sorry."

I have low blood pressure from the medications my Doctor has me on, & today i'm having a bad time with hypertension & can't deal with anything. I'm afraid if I came to work today, I may flip out for no reason what so ever & could easy kill everyone near me. I feel it is for your own safey that I stay away from everyone today, until I see my Doctor & get a new medication.

I tend to make up stuff about my immediate family, rather than about myself. That way, I don't have to manifest the symptoms the next day, or have a medical certificate.
Of course, I have kids.
If you do, you don't need tips. If you don't, try excuses related to others. One I tried once at every new job related to being up all night because a dear, dear friend who was suicidal needed me to talk him/her down. That one will always work once, if your boss is not a total prick.

My last job, we had a call in number. They asked the reason why you were unable to come to work, the name of your boss... etc etc...
I always just called...and said.. I won't be in. I never gave a reason. If I was ever asked.. I just told them, I didn't feel well!!! or more so, I didn't feel like dealing with you!!!

That's easy....Go to the doctor and if you're sick, he'll give u one. Here is a little something to remember. "An excuse is THE SKIN OF THE TRUTH, STUFFED WITH A LIE."
