how do bsnl broadband measure how much megabytes of data i have used...anybody have any clue ? I got huge bill

i received bill for last month 4,600.00 rupees ..i dont think i have used that much at all ..and i dont dowload huge files from net anyway ...can anybidy help me ...

if you've got no idea why your bill is so huge, check if your computer isn't being a zombie computer (Zombie computer is a computer infected with malware that have the instruction to send spam mail, this eats lots of bandwidth).

If you want to measure how much data you actually transfer from your computer, you can easily done that by any network monitoring tools, there are some free ones you can google. The network monitoring tool may also measure zombie data, so this is an accurate representation of how much you used (since ISPs don't care if your computer is infected by zombie, they just care for you to pay what you "used")

It isn't likely that your ISP is cheating on you, it is much more likely that you've really "used" a lot of bandwidth, although you mightn't noticed it.
