Definitely baking soda. Sprinkle it liberally over the mattress and if you can, leave it overnight before hoovering it off. May need to do this a couple of times.

If the mattress has been freshly wet, shake scented carpet powder (preferably one with corn starch or another odour neutralizer)-this will draw out the moisture and help take the scent away. When the powder seems to have sucked up the moisture, hoover it up.
If the mattress is dry, take a carpet shampoo and scrub it vigorously as you would a carpet, then pat dry. Then, when dry, spray with Febreeze.

There is a product called Goo-Gone, its from Canada but if you google it you might get it here. Its great for stain removal but full of chemicals. After using it can I suggest applied some drops of tea tree oil, then stand the matress up and leave it near an open window for as long as you can. This will work, if it doesn't let me know and I'll go around and do it personally for you.

OUT! Pet stain and odor remover. Wal-mart has it for $7.00 for a 64oz jug. It is for pets but worked great for me. I keep 3 boys in my home for a living. We went through the same thing with 2 of them. But let it soak in and sit for 20 min. till it gets in the padding. Then just put towels down to soak it back up. Let it dry on it's on because it keeps working for you.

How about using one of those steam cleaners. You can get handy size ones for about £25. Argos have them also Asda did have one.
