I'm not a scientist, rich, or an US citizen. Is it even possible? Could I work there?

yes usually by qualfing for a job in that area like an oil company

It's very difficult! I once met this man at the Olympics. He was carrying a very long pole. I said, "Are you a Pole Vaulter"?
