I have a basic computer subject in college and i want to know why is it called Information Technology. Can you please give me a simple reason for that.

So simple this is something you got to get informed,

unlike other sciences where you have demonstration like physics chemistry and botany , All you see on the screen is to be believed as information ( example electricity)

so these information in a PC alson not stored as you imagine by letters ,they are binary coded , means each letter example A has as many as 1 0 10 10 and so on so this is informed not conveyed

IT, the technology necessary to share the Information.
Basically computers, databases, servers, software, networking, phone systems, etc.
