Safe to stay there? I am not much aware about Philipines. But on the net i found that olongopo is a red light district... is it true? he has gone there with a male friend of his, on work. Somehow I feel uncomfortable thinking about they staying at a red light area.

Thanks for all the answers, there'z no doubt that I trust him but just as I said, I was not comfortable with the idea of them staying in a red light district. I was just concerned about the safety & the surroundings.

Did you ask them why of all places they were going to go to Olongapo (and not another city in the Philippines)? It could be all innocent. His friend might have relatives there or know people in the area. Or else, his friend is meeting someone and needs a friend to be with him while there. Just talk to your boyfriend and let him know how you feel. And, that you trust him. Better yet, let him call you every night while he's away 'coz you'll be missing him.

Since the American pull-out, much of Olongapo, specially where Subic Naval Base once stood, has been changed into tourist areas. There are also plenty of shady areas(read as Red Light District), it really just depends on your boyfriend.

olongapo used to be a red light district until the american left their naval base there in 1992..i'm sure ur bf is doing fine, and i have relatives living in olongapo and i've been there..it's pretty safe and very peaceful city now..

its practically safe in olongapo, i think there is not much red light district there since the americans left there bases.. as long as you trust your bf, there's nothing to worry about..

Well, your bf is old already to control himself. And if he really commits himself to be faithful to you, there's no need for you to worry. Red light districts are scattered everywhere. The only way to control his desire to go there depends on his conscience.

Are you worried about his safety or what he might get up to ?
I am sure he will be fine, and as he is with a friend he should be safe enough.

Its safe. there are a lot of bars there.. so .. are you really worried bout the red light area thingy?!? :p ;) It IS SAFE. dont worry.
