We are born and we die because we are part of nature, and nature doesn't care. And in the long run, nothing matters because not only individual humans but also the human species, the planet earth and the solar system, and eventually the entire universe will die and be no more.
But we don't live in the long run. We live in the here and now and have real cares and lives which affect everyone around us. A genuine human being never believes that his or her family "doesn't matter" just because they will all ultimately die, or put another way, that value doesn't count unless it's eternal.
You could say that the value is greater for being temporary: here is a perfect spring day, unearned and arriving at no cost, to be enjoyed for a few hours only before it ends - so enjoy it already.
The above sounds a lot like Jean-Paul Sartre, whom I recommend highly for anyone interested in finding joy without the need for eternal anything. Live an authentic life and accept that you are in and of the world - that's what we are born into, after all.

I guess feeling is equally important as thinking is. Because by thinking we create the models first and the real stuff later. By feeling we create the intensity of the need to pursue such a project.
Your question is truly one which I can't really answer because by thinking alone only a robot can be created, not a human being.

All animals can think. Thinking doesn't set us aside from other animals. I would normally give a religious view point on our purpose but that all depends on one's own belief system. I think what sets us apart from other animals is our ability to 'over think'. We have knowledge and communication beyond what animals have. We have need for seeking self-pleasure (not just sexual but also intelligent, emotional, spiritual, etc.) We can use logic, illogic, rational, irrational, sane & insane thinking. And reason. Animals can think things through but for only survival, breeding and defense. We seek many other things.
I think we were born because God created us this way for a purpose. For His personal reason and for us to know Him. That can be a long discussion. God created all things but their purpose is just to be what they are - a rock, a mountain, a grain of sand, a water hole, a chimp, an ant, a mouse,... God created humans with different brain patterns and wiring. Our purpose is our own personal journey.

the biggest gift we humans have got over animals is our free will! we can do what we think is best, well that changes from individual to individual!
but your other question why are we here!
well i believe tht every single person in this world is here for a specific purpose- part of a higher master plan n v ol hv r part 2 play!
bt whether v play it 2 perfection or mess 'round with it depends on r free will! its r decision if v want 2 do anything 'bout it or just ignore it n believe with ol r hearts tht this is not true!
but hey, thts free will 4 u!
above all v'r here bcoz God loves you! just as u r!
