Answer :

YES YES U CAN...
see
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/upgrading/sysreqs.mspx

its said "64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features"...

AND
http://www.pcmall.com/pcmall/shop/detail~dpno~416844~name~Windows+XP+Home+Edition+with+Service+Pack+2+-+Upgrade+Package~mfg~N09-00985+++++++++++.asp

for the "Service Pack 2"

My Recommendation :

DON'T DO THAT... buy some RAM (at least 256).... just for the sake of XP.

You can...but you would be experiencing Hell and torture all the while your using 96MB RAM. Microsoft recommend i think 128MB but i wouldn't even waste my time putting in 128MB for XP . I'd use 256mb at Least. When I'm upgrading customers PCs orLaptops I try adn get them to put 512mb in because the extra RAM will make all the difference in XP. Plus XP would run a lot smoother with 512mb and so would many applications running within XP

u can just install and run it with 96 MB BUT It will be slow when u install some applications in that XP.

SO the recommended RAM is 256 MB For a better performance ...

Th recommended RAM for Windows XP is 128 MB, but 256 is recommended, and I would prefer 512 MB.

To run it without major frustrations, you would have to MASSIVELY trim down the Windows services and keep a sharp eye on the start-up log. Would be a hell of a lot easier to upgrade your RAM - I wouldn't be running on less the 256, or even better starting with 512MB - is no where near as expensive as it once was to upgrade

Theoretically & Technically, Yes it will run!
Practically/In reality, It is not recommended because it will take you hours just to Log-on to Windows.
You really need at least 256MB to make Windows XP run decently. The more memory you add the faster it runs.

isn't too solid at purely ninety six. chum of mine had an previous laptop he needed XP on, and easily sixty 4, and it replaced into no flow, so i found him some well suited sdram, and now with the sixty 4+128 it extremely works ok. you should get yet another stick of ram.

The minimum requirement is 128MB, but i've seen it work on less, about 96 i think it was, and then shared video so it lost more, but it will be horribly slow
