The self-righteous Christians disqust me in their condemnation of same-sex marriage. Therefore, I want to ask you to read Proverbs 6.16: "There are six things the Lord hates, Seven are DETESTABLE TO HIM: HAUGHTY EYES - A LYING TONGUE - HANDS THAT SHED INNOCENT BLOOD - A HEART THAT DEVISES WICKED SCHEMES - FEET THAT ARE QUICK TO RUSH INTO EVIL - FALSE WITNESS WHO POURS OUT LIES - AND A MAN WHO STIRS UP DISSENSION AMONG BROTHERS. The following verses and chapter deal with ADULTRY. (take a look at yourself)

I don't have a dog in this fight and I am a Christian but I'm sick of those of you who act like such perfect people and automatically condemn homosexuality while at the same time you are committing sins detestable to God every day. I don't see anything about homosexuality there.

Look within yourself and let God do the judging. The audacity to think you know the mind of God!

To Twiggy: Please quote your source and let me know if you have committed any of the detestible sins to God.

You dear, are a self-righteous person, certainly not a sinner in need of God's grace and forgiveness. mia culpa, mia culpa.

Wow! Thank you very much for that. I concurr.

People react with fear and/or hatred to things or people that are different than them in some way, and to those who "overstep" the invisible boundaries they feel obligated to stay within. I have no problem with someone's convictions. Whatever you believe is fine - but it does not give you warrant to hate or mistreate others. This is directly contradictory to the message of Jesus. I believe he would slap the faces of many so-called christians today if he were not such a loving person. He called us to love. He called us to bring togeather - not tear apart. Remember the parable of the sower and the tares? Don't rip up what you believe to be tares or you will also rip up the harvest. Wait and let the Lord do it at the judgement. Just friggen learn to coexist and play nice....ok?

You come across a little heavy, but I agree with what you are implying. Unfortunately, far too many Christians take the words written in the bible as the 'Word of God'. However 'God' never lifted a pen. The books in the bible are just that - 'books'. They are the thoughts and feelings of the individuals who wrote them. They are based on normal human guidelines - that is to say if something is different or contrary to what I believe is right or normal - then it must be wrong and evil.
However, most of what was considered evil and therefore sinful in those days, should not necessarily be condemned to-day. Similarly, what was considered right and normal then, would be wrong and illegal in to-days society. (example - slavery, stoning the sinful, animal and even human sacrificial ceremonies to appease God, etc etc) Human beings over the years, have learnt the difference between miracles and natural phenomenons. A burning bush is not a sign from God, but merely a lightening strike resulting in the sending of fire fighters to ensure the danger does not spread.Thirteen men dressed in floor length robes, wandering through the streets of the Holy Land spreading the good word, would probably be dismissed to-day as another Gay Pride Parade.
Similarly, same sex marriage is not a scourge to be condemned by those who find it contrary to what they think is normal. Instead, it should be celebrated as a natural step towards equality of all law abiding citizens. In countries where same sex marriages are legal, the sky has not fallen. The Churches are still provided the legal ability to refuse to take part in same sex marriages, however many churches have offered to open their doors (and hearts) and none have been struck with the wrath of God.
So have faith. Just as the American south finally gave equality to Black Americans, and most of the worlds countries allow women to vote, so too will Christians and other faiths find it within their hearts and minds, to accept equality for the GLBT community.

The Lord hates the sin, not the person. I don't 'thump' the Bible but I am a Christian, I do believe that marriage is sacred and should be between a man and a woman only. But then again, whose business is it when a gay couple wants to have a marriage ceremony in their own backyard. I don't understand why people just don't give it a rest. Learn to fight just your own battles, and everybody will be ok.

Sadly, there are also scriptures that say things like
a man sleeping with another guy should be put to death. This is in the Old testament though.

There are in any case verses that condem homosexuality in the New Testament too but not as blatantly.

On the otherhand, they used to stone people for adultery in those times as well.

Probably got you angry and you put a thumbs down on me? Sorry, its the truth. This is one of the reason I'm not a Christian. Christian is a peacefull religion but it is not really a tolerant one. Basically they believe most of us are going down down down.

Not sure what your question is, but Adultery is a sin, so is Homosexuality. You're not supposed to do either. We all sin. We're supposed to try and not sin We're not perfect. God forgives us. But, you're not to repeat the sin over and over and over. God hates sin, not the sinner.

EDIT: Honestly, why would I want everyone to go to Hell? I don't want to see anyone in eternal damnation. But I'm wise enough to know God will judge in the end, not me. I wish you blessings and peace.

You are a Christian but you are not very happy. You need to relax. chill out. be tolerant.

Question: do you honestly feel that deep i your ehart you knwo the mind of God? Seriuosly ask yourself this.

I speak not from a Christian platfrom but from the platform of a bhakti yogi. Bhakti Yoga = union with God in love. (same as Jesus first commandment) I am not a perfect yogi but i understand a bit.

I understand that in the spiritual path (hte path back home to be with God, loving him, (in this life or the next, in this world or the other) we should do things that are pleasing to Him and that help us be less detached to mamon / material things. Homosexuality is about enjoying sex with same sex person. The sex is material. There no way to transform this sex into spiritual sex which means sex for propogation / for bringing up children who we might help to grow to love God. (if a sperm gets wasted God gets quite irrate : )

If you are a Christian you should be trying your best to please God. Thats what love is about - pleasing the one you love. Caring for others, being comapssionate to others is pleasing. Screwing is not pleasing to God, its just pleasing to the body, mayeb the mind too.

Loving God should be your number one aim in life. Pray to Him for this. Its seems now your number one aim is defending your minds desires, for the mind is the seat of your homosexuality. 'You' are not a 'homosexual'. You are 'Gods servant' Thats your actual identity. Sex doesnt even come into it. Your mind desires 'homosex' and it is separating you from God. in fact. You can claim to be Christian but ask yourslef if really your aim in life is actually 'loving God'. If it is, you don't need to struggle with this question.

It's true we are all sinners. if we're christians we shouldn't be having sex with anyone unless we are married to them. i don't think God had in mind two men or women being married.
