It's 2006. You would think we would all be smarter. I am just amazed at all the people who hate blacks, think their religion is the only one, murder, and basically have no morals whatsoever. We certianly have not grown very much since we evolved. Babies are born with all the innocence in the world. No hatred, racism, or views of the world. Is the world going to end becuase somelone else beleives differently? Will the sky fall becuase two men are in love? Heck no! When are people just going to accept what's what and keep their nose out of it?

Unfortunately they probably never will. Everyone thinks what they believe is the truth and the only truth. It is sad that people aren't more accepting of other people's differences. I do think the main problem is what they are taught at home. More and more people have children yet don't bother to parent their children. They figure they are too busy and they expect everyone else to do it for them. In the mean time they aren't being taught morals and compassion. And then everyone wants to know what is wrong with the world. It starts at home. If people would take the time out of their "busy" lives to be good role models for their children, their children wouldn't grow up to be such miserable hateful adults. I am never too busy for my son. And I promise you, He will not grow up to be that way. It is just too bad everyone else is't as concerned about the way they conduct themselves nowadays. The majority of the people I come Across on a daily basis are rude, impatient, disrespectful, judgemental, and self absorbed. I try to hold onto the belief that most people are good people though, and I do believe they are, I just think maybe they lose track of things that really matter, and are more concerned with trivial matters. But I totally hear ya!!!!!

I think I heard somewhere that the average mental age of the human population is still in the early teens. We're all a little slow. I just do my part to grow up! I already feel smarter than half the world because I aim to keep an open mind and never pass judgment. However, with all the jerks out there it's hard not to.

The question you should ask is:

Why is there more talk of racism today than back in the fifties and sixties when racism really existed?

Could it be that the people of today see racism everywhere?

Just because people have an opinion and express that opinion, does not make them racist.

People are entitle to like or dislike anyone they wish.
You cannot force people to like everyone and approve of everyone. That would be dictatorship.

Governments have already enforced many laws against discrimination because of people like you, dreaming of utopia.

Freedom of speech is what I am voting for.

Then again, many people might become racists because they resent being continually called "racist" for no good reason at all.

Racism is not natural. It is taught. Small children don't notice colour difference in people until they are taught to.

There's probably more talk of racism today than in the 50s and 60s because there's more talk of everything today. In the 50s and 60s talk about controversial issues was very much discouraged.

You said it all---people need to realize that our differences are not things to be rejected but are blessings. God created each of us in the Divine image---when we reject another, we reject a part of God on one level.

Racism and bigotry is taught---unfortunately most often by family and friends. We can each change this by taking the opportunity to only teach love---that means that the jokes have to be set aside too . . .

Take the time to learn about others too---knowledge conquers ignorance and hate---all of which is very evident by far too many posters on this web site.

Yeah, I agree, a lot of the times we don't hear a lot about it because we have become more tolerant of letting people keep most of their inalienable rights, but still, there are racists, homophobes, and misogynists out there who kind of destroy our ideals. =P

It's human nature. If we were all the same race and religion, we'd figure out another way to differentiate ourselves and continue bashing each other.

The powers in control need us to be separated in order to maintain control.
As long as people are caught up in fear and ignorance of and toward each other, the government can continue to run us over.

Think about it, if we all united, who could screw us over?

Remember, the government didn't kill Malcom X when he was talking crap about black people remaining separated from white society.
They killed him when he started talking about blacks and whites coming together!
Recognize.

I hate that they are racist too.
And they claim that they are "mature" and can handle it the
right way. But they aren't setting a very good example....
