My next-door neighbor works construction (plumbing) and makes $18 an hour. He's got 20 years' experience. He moved to Illinois last year but couldn't find work b/c he doesn't belong to the union, so he made zero there. (He moved back.) My neighbor across the street works construction (carpentry) and makes $32 an hour. He has many years' experience; I'm not sure how many exactly. One of my good friends had a construction business about 20 years ago and averaged about $20 an hour then, but he married my best friend's wife who made his business a BUSINESS, and now they are worth several million dollars (they do restorations of gazillion-dollar homes in Chicago).

If you are a "journeyman" in a trade, then salary can be very good.

Take an electrician at Ford motor. Could be as high as 38:00 $ U.S. a hour.

Otherwise, it will vary all over the place. A "roofer" in Flordia could get as low as Min. wage.

My local area $8-12.00 p/h unless you can stay with a company for years then maybe upwards of $15.00p/h.
I make $10.00p/h and been here off and on for several years .
My brother just lost his job trying to get $12.00p/h. they told him they can replace him in just a few hours at most.
