Sincerity.
Sincerity in admitting who is it that actually wants control of that Holy Piece of Real Estate.
Sincerity in admitting what they can benefit out of it and whether who or how all can share its bounty
Sincerity in admitting what they fear most and how it can be allayed
Sincerity in giving as well as taking
but ultimately unconditionally sharing
Sincerity in admitting that we are but one and the same.
Sincerity in acknowledging while all these may not be happening one day we all shall return to Him. Dust to dust.
Amen

@ Anvil yours is a typical Israeli answer to a question you do not like ie by insulting the user who asked that reasonable question . This should be a site for questions and answers NOT one to throw dirt simply because you can't face the truth. Now to answer your good question > There are only 2 ways to put an end to this conflict and that's by dialog. Israel has to sit down with Hamas and concede a lot of land they occupy, lift the blockade of Gaza, put the whole od the West Bank under Palestinian control and remove all its military from that area and at least start the return of Palestinians driven out by the Zionists. A bitter pill to swallow but if Israel really wants peace then they have to swallow it. Hamas on the other hand would have to guarantee to cease all hostilities once and for all The alternative is to get the US and the UN involved to force Israel to comply with conditions acceptable to the down trodden Palestinians as in my opinion Israel does not want peace until it has occupied the whole of Palestine

On the assumption that Israel and Palestine be unified as a single country, you are saying:
"The Palestinians need to accept Israel's right to exist and in return Israel needs to treat them as equal citizens."
It looks like an idea with no precedent in world history. Reunification of East and West Germany took place under totally different circumstances and for different reasons.
Many people in Israel and Palestine want to live in peace but it is not possible to do so under present conditions. Things have become more complex than ever.
The absence of democracy has nothing to do with the Israel/Palestine confrontation. Both of them are locked in dispute over Jerusalem and redefinition of borders.
In 1989, the leader of the PLO, Yassar Arafat acknowledged Israel's right to exist. But, the situation has become quite complex now with terrorist attacks by Hamas and Hizbullah against Israel and Israel's military operations against them in Palestine and Lebanon.
If Palestine recognizes the existence of Israel, and all terrorist attacks are stopped, there is hope that both Israel and Palestine can live peacefully as good neighbors.

First thing to understand is the nature of the conflict, starting with the fact that there are no "Palestinians" there, just Arabs and Jews.
Or, in their own words...
"The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism.
For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan."
-PLO executive committee member Zahir Muhsein, 1977

I KNOW that you're all going to think I'm a nutjob for answering like this, but hear me out. *l*
What would happen if we dropped a few nuclear bombs onto the region? Would they follow in the footsteps of Japan (who basically should NOT have survived after that) and rise up into a major leading technological power on earth? The Japanese seem to be doing rather well for having TWO bombs dropped on them.
Sure, the IMMEDIATE affects would be absolutely horrible and devastating, but what would it mean to the future of Israel and Palestine?

Several strategically placed nuclear weapons? They are going to butcher each other to the last semite. Their struggle has been going on for thousands of years, it is not going to end because of some rational argument. Trust me, it has been attempted.
Incidentally, it is amazing how well democracy took root in Iraq, Palestine and Afghanstan isn't it? Hate to break this to you but democracy is not for everybody and not everybody sees it as nirvana.
There is a reason Palis are treated as dogs by their brethren. They are rude pets, Jordan gave them sanctuary once, in repayment for their kindness, the Palis tried to take over the country.
Pox on all of them.

send the so called palestinians back to syria where they were originally from, but that wont happen because palestinians are hated more by other arabs than by israeli's,so they should accept what they have now and work with israel to the betterment of them both,

Use force.
If the terrorist Palestinians put their guns down, we have peace.
If the Israelis do, they are dead.
Your socialist order is not ok. How about you put your money out there? Why is it that people like you want others to pay for your causes.
