electric guitar is always loud
woodwind instruments especially trombones and trumpets are also loud
Violin, saxophone, harp, especially accordion are soft

Brass instruments; percussion instruments like snare drums, bass drums, and cymbals; and saxyphones I consider to be loud. I consider mallets, flutes, piccolos (even though it is high-pitched), recorders, and clarinets to be soft.
Though basically all instruments can be both loud and soft.

Loud are drums, tuba.
Soft are violin, flute, harp.
Some horns, cymbals, and piano can be loud or soft.
